I've been doing family research, aka genealogy, for a long time tucked in between raising kids, working, running this crazy household, etc. I am back at it a little more regularly now and the kids get involved once in a while too. I thought I would try sharing some of the interesting stories and photos I come across. Hopefully they will spark an interest or memory for you. Please feel free to share in the comments.
Today, to start things off we are actually going to begin at the end, with Tombstones.
Tombstones are earthly reminders of people who are no longer with us. A tombstone or headstone is a tangible item that loved ones can visit, and care for in some instances, in memory of those they have lost.
My mother passed away last year and was buried in Quantico National Cemetery. Through some fancy footwork by some very diligent employees of the funeral home, my little brother was moved down there at the same time, to be laid to rest next to our mother. The interesting tale here, besides the move, was that he is now one of those rare people who have had two headstones.
